How to buy a bike pump
If you have a bike, you need bike floor pump. If you ride often, you might need a frame pump or a mini pump for emergency use. Buy a floor bike pump for workshop or home frequent use; the frame pump is mounted onto the frame of your bike; the mini pump stay in your backpack or saddle bag. When you get a flat on the road, you can use your frame or mini pump to inflate your tires. Here are some instructions for you:
1. Leave a floor pump at home. The floor bike pump must be a good quality bike pump. Normally, good quality ones are made of all metal construction and have a accurate gauge. A gauge is important for you to keep the proper pressure while you are pumping. Some cheap ones don’t have gauges.
2. There are two common tire valves: Pesta and Schrader valves. Make sure your bike pump can work with both Presta and Schrader valves. Before buying a bike pump, you must know which valve of your tire is. If you don’t know, you can ask a local bike store for help.
3. If you need to ride often or ride for long distance, a frame pump or mini pump is necessary. Buy one of them and make sure they can work with both Presta and Schrader valves. Also the good quality is needed. A frame pump is heavier than a mini pump but is more efficient than a mini pump. If you don’t care about the weight, I suggest a frame pump is better.
4. If you need to inflate you tires extremely quickly, consider buying a Co2 pumps, but remember they can be somewhat unreliable. This pump is different from other pumps. If the Co2 gas in the cartridge is exhausted, you need to replace a new one.
